We invite you to know Puerto Real through the routes and visits that we propose you
Puerto Real was founded on June 18, 1483 by the Catholic Monarchs, who were looking for a sheltered and safe port, dependent on the crown, from which ships would sail for the maritime siege of the kingdom of Granada and a place with access to the sea to counteract the influence of the rest of the ports of the Bay of Cadiz, in the hands of noble lineages.
But the history of the territory now occupied by Puerto Real begins much earlier as evidenced by Mesolithic sites such as El Retamar, or the numerous remains of the Roman occupation of Puerto Real.
